Hi Catherine,

What a blessing to find you.

I am needing help on my Grandparents, on my fathers baptism certificate in Calicut India, their names are stated as Peter Doyle and May Elizabeth Doyle.

In a letter from an old aunt who married my uncle Michael Doyle my grandfather was called Peter John Doyle, born in Dublin possible brother called Jack, sisters name unknown.

Grandads wife could also have been known as Elizabeth Josephine surname Dowdall, born Inchicore, Dublin 05.03.1893 she had two brothers Charles and Michael.

Peter Doyle was obviously in the Army as his four children were all born in army barracks,  Tidworth, Bury and Calicut, India.  I have tracked down a Peter Doyle who served with the Lancashire fusiliers who did tours of these towns and countries but with no personal information.
Another possibility is that he was originally with the Dublin Fusiliers and change to the Lancashire Fusiliers on a recruitment campaign in the 1920's.

After this I know nothing, can you possibly help. It is the only line in my history I know nothing about.

One day, I am sure a trip to Dublin will be my only way forward.

Thanks for anything

Regards

Lita

Hi Catherine

I have so little information, but here goes:

John Condon, my GGrandfather born approx 1846 in Cork.  Left Ireland for Lancashire.  Married in 1869 in Lancaster.  Father's name was Michael.  Both were Shoemaker Journeymen.

Appears in 1881 Lancashire Census.  In 1891 Lancashire Census his wife is noted as "widow".  In 1909 Son's Marriage Certificate wife is noted as "dec" but John is "Postman".  No mention of "dec", so presumably living.

Is there anything you can look up that might help?

Thanks

hi Catherine  I am researching my grandmother, I have no idea where she was born I wandered if you  may be able to help me.         Bridget (Mary) Byrne married Thomas Mcgehan 11 7 1915 at the church of St Andrews reg district no 4 in the union of south Dublin,at the time of the marriage they were living at 9 Stephens place Dublin she was of full age, her fathers name was Andrew Byrne occupation groom .Thomas was killed in France in 1916. Bridget came to England around 1920 and married my grandfather in 1924,on her marriage certificate it had her age as 29 her birthday was on the 5 July. I believe that Bridget and Thomas had a daughter who may have been called Bridget she was left with her grandmother in Ireland, My grandmother was still in England when her daughter died of diphtheria around 1925 but i can find no record of  it .I appreciate any help that you can give me or if  you can point me in the right direction. I expect you have heard it many times that it is not always easy researching our Irish ancestors regards Cornish
