Hi
This is an interesting portrait. The mount gives us quite a bit of information about dating. As mentioned by others it most likely dates from 1888. The wording on the mount is interesting. I have an example of Passinghams autos mount and the wording is different. Your example would seem to indicated that Percy Lund was the patentee whereas the example I have was manufactured in Berlin and definitely says that Percy Lund was the printer and Passingham, most probably Edmund Passingham was the patentee. This would indicate that at some point the manufacturing was switched from/to Berlin/Vienna. It could be that Percy Lund bought the patent from Passingham at some point and this would be most likley when Passingham left Bradford in 1889.
The mount was designed so they central section at the back could be pulled out, as you can see from the crease this would make it free standing on the mantle or shelf.
You may also like to know that if the mount has a gold bevelled edge that it could very well be 'real English gold' which Percy Lund was promoting at the time.
Very nice portriat by the way . you are very lucky to have this and in such good condition.
