Port Street in Holbeck existed in the 1880s but was demolished at some time? Does anyone know:

a) When it was demolished?
b) Where would it be or what would be there on a modern map?

You can see Port Street on the map and the modern view at http://maps.nls.uk/geo/explore/sidebyside.cfm#zoom=17&lat=53.7857&lon=-1.5565&layers=171&right=BingHyb
You can also see it on the 1/500 Town Plan at https://www.old-maps.co.uk/#/Map/429307/432207/13/100431 (zoom out twice)

Port Street was in the area near the Holbeck Engine Shed on Nineveh Road.
[This was in the days of the steam trains]
See Stan's first link to show exact location.

In my opinion the marriage residence is not always the place of birth. Never forget Workhouse and overseers accounts records of birth

Thanks everyone for your help. I have been trying to fine an old map to help with this but with no luck (some local knowledge probably helps).

The links I gave are to old maps, do they not help? If you go to https://www.old-maps.co.uk/#/Map/429307/432207/13/100431 there is a list of available  maps on the left dating from 1850 to 1991.

As a young train spotter in the late 50's/early 60's, your map is spot on Stan. :)
