Hi need help please on James Turnbulls family. James married Jean [Jane] Stewart in 1851 in Lasswade Midlothian Have four children to them William born abt 1851 Lasswade ,Henry born 1853 Lasswade ,Agnes born 1856 Lasswade, Anne born 1859 Lasswade Managed to find all info on Henry, Last sighting was on the 1871 census nothing after that can anyone help thankyou.

From what you say, your connections are to the line of son Henry? Did he marry? If so, what did it say about his father on his marriage registration?

Possible death for Jane mother in 1900. There is one death showing in Midlothian that year for a Jane Stewart/Turnbull (as you know, you cannot tell which is married or maiden name from the index). This Jane was born c. 1821 which matches what I saw in the censuses.

This is mum Jean and son William in 1881 I would think:

Jean Turnbull 62 Forresters Widow b. Colinton
William Turnbull 28 Ston Haver (as transcribed) b. Glencorse

Address: Dryden House, Lasswade

James Turnbull's death therefore between 1871 and 1881.
