There are a number of records and trees for Peder Hansen in North Dakota with the same date of birth on Ancestry. Also his marriage to Fredrikke in Denmark.

Just noticed that Niels Pedersen is with the family in 1870 in line nr 6. Maria is not there. (I don't know how I missed it first time round)
1870 Census
http://ao.sa.dk/ao/data.ashx?bid=11850230

This is Peder Hansen and family leaving the parish in 1871. Nr 7

A better image of Niels birth record:
Father is recorded as Lars Peder Pedersen this time. Not Olsen.

Thank you so much for your help! This question is related to a family mystery that family members have tried to solve for years. Recently I thought I'd give it a try again. My great-great grandmother was said to have been born as Christina Pederson on 24 Jan 1873/1874 in Denmark. Supposedly her parents died when she was young and in 1885 she traveled to North Dakota, USA to live with relatives. These relatives were Iver and Christine (daughter of Peder and Frederikke Hansen) Madsen. Later she went to live with another uncle, Nels P. Hanson (originally Nils Pedesen - son of Peder and Frederikke Hansen). Christina was married in 1894 to Mike Mootz and died in North Dakota in 1971. As she called this people her aunts and uncles, I believe she was somehow a granddaughter of Peder and Frederikke Hansen. I just cannot figure out how. She did have contact with her relative Niels Pederson (born 1867 to Marie) and I thought perhaps it was her brother but it doesn't appear as if he had any siblings. I would love to finally know how my grandmother fits into this puzzle and who her parents were. I recently took an Ancestry DNA test and I share DNA with descendants of Peder and Frederikke Hansen through the Madsen family - I just cannot figure out how!

Hi
I have now located Peder and Fredrikke's passenger list from Copenhagen to New York in 1886 on the Geiser. On line 87. And low and behold I believe your Christina is with them. She is 11 years old which makes her born 1875 or so. A daughter Mathilda is also there too.

If you wonder what the 4-5 means in the column next to Christine (not her death anyway) read this link: http://www.rootschat.com/links/01h4k/
