Another identification of Regiment please if poss.
« on: Wednesday 17 February 16 17:55 GMT (UK) »
This the other Grandparent of my husband.
He was born 1890 in Buckinghamshire.

There is a photo of him in his uniform and we believe the other one is of him cooking!

If anyone can identify which regiment he was in I would be very grateful. :)

Thank you.

If he was born in Sheffield in 1898 there are some military records for him in FindMyPast.

There are also others from different areas.

Does anyone have any ideas about the photo of 'the cooks'.

He is in that but he was a railway ganger not a cook.

Any ideas about the man 2nd from left with the flat hat?
Is this taken abroad do you think?

Good morning,

It may just be a fatigue party, men detailed for the day to help in the kitchens. A common duty in the army, although normally carried out by men who had been a little naughty but not enough to warrant being charged with an offence.

These were dealt with by the sgt maj and did not show up on the mans record.
