Won't any hospital records be subject to a 100 year closure rule? I know some archives will look stuff up for direct descendants but will do it themselves so no other under 100 yr information is seen by the requester.

Although any such records [patient or staff] will probably have date of birth, they are unlikely to have place of birth or parents except I suppose as next of kin.

Apologies for the delay in response.  Thank you all for your suggestions and findings.  I think the last one is promising, as recently I heard from a daughter of Emily's eldest Evans daughter that she was raised in an orphanage.  No occupation is given for Emily on her marriage certificate  :-(

Update - made it to the London Metropolitan Archives.  Emily was employed as a "Nursing Helper" from Aug 15 1915 - Aug 30 1918.  No other info was given for employees in the records I saw, so still no concrete evidence of where she was born or her parents names.  I've gone back through BMD records and an incredible number of Henry or Harry Budds married a lady with Alice in her name!

If anyone should be where the Lambeth Union records are kept and find they have time on their hands, I'd so much appreciate your looking up anything about the Emily Budd who was there. One relative thinks her whole name was Emily Marie Violet Budd, but that may have become muddled with time.

I had a wonderful trip, thank you.  Witnesses were Bessie Jordon and George Prentice if I'm reading correctly.
