Ovenden DNA
« on: Tuesday 09 February 16 17:53 GMT (UK) »
Hi there, I'm looking for anyone who is descended from George Robert Ovenden (1791 - 1860) and his second wife Jane Clare (1800 - 1888) who has had a DNA test.  I am descended from these two but by an illegitimate link and wish to compare my Ovenden DNA.  Many thanks.

There are several trees on Ancestry with both the first and second wives. If you have no luck here you could try them as several have descendants going down to the present.
James Stott c1775-1850. James was born in Yorkshire but where? He was a stonemason and married Elizabeth Archer (nee Nicholson) in 1794 at Ripon. They lived thereafter in Masham. If anyone has any suggestions or leads as to his birthplace I would be interested to know. I have searched for it for years without success. Thank you.

Have you entered your raw data into a site such has gedmatch.com which is a free site and people use this site who have had their test done with ancestry and ftdna and others? Have you checked whether there are any surname studies for your surname?

Yes, I have put my data on Gedmatch and found many matches but I am unable to tell whether any of them are Ovendens.

PS Don't know where to look for surname studies.
