Green family

Looking for information on Ernest Green...he was one of the Barnardo's children that came over in 1898.  I've read he may have 2 other brothers. Wondering if they were sent to Canada also and did he know where they were.
Ernest was my Great Great Uncle and I never heard of any other family. Very interested in putting pieces together.

I do believe Debra has the right family...Ernest Green married my great grandmother sister.  Thank you for your help

My name is Richard Green and Joseph Green b Sibford Gower was my Grandfather - he died in Portsmouth England in 1975. He did indeed have a brother Ernest who went to Canada in 1898 who I have been trying to trace, and have got as far as placing him in Lambton County Ontario in 1901. I think he may have married Verna Jane Hornick, but I have been unable to definitely link him to that marriage. There were in fact two other brothers, but one died in 1891 in infancy, and William George, listed in the census was killed in WW1 on 9th April 1918. The other two boys did not go to Canada and all were separated after the death of their father in 1892. Their mother was still alive but could not support them as she was a domestic servant. Thirty years later she eventually came to live with Joseph until her death. However, although contact was kept with Ernest and the brothers until WW1 at some point thereafter it was lost. I have a picture of Ernest sent from Canada some time around 1910. I would be more than happy to contact you by mail with a copy and more information, and would be very keen to understand your family connection. Best wishes

Just to close off this topic, Sandi and I have exchanged pictures and confirmed for certain that Ernest Green is one and the same as identified in the census return posted by Debra. So thanks for your assistance. My relatives in England are delighted to have confirmed the story of a long lost relative.
