Agnes HOLLAND marriage Huddersfield
« on: Sunday 07 February 16 10:33 GMT (UK) »
Hi, can anyone help with the marriage of Agnes Holland in Huddersfield, 2 quarter of 1916. Agnes married John T Mills. To make sure I am on the right track, if possible I would like to know what is on the marriage certificate such as her fathers name etc. I think Agnes was born in 1889 in Pudsey (Putsey on some records) near Bradford. John T Mills I think was born in 1887 but don't know his parents either. Agnes Mills died in Huddersfield 2nd quarter of 1959, and John T Mills died in Huddersfield 4th quarter of 1927. Any help with marriage or deaths would be appreciated.
Many thanks,
Yorkshire Lad.

The only way to see details from a Marriage Certificate is to buy a copy from the GRO! ;D

If you know if they married in church, and you know which church, maybe there is a Parish Register entry?

If they married in the Register Office, then the only way is to buy the certificate.

I can't see them on Ancestry's West Yorkshire, Church of England Marriages & Banns? ::)

Unless there is someone who by slim chance has Agnes in their tree, have already obtained a marriage certificate and willing to give you free info after spending  £10 for it themselves.   ???  - its easiest to purchase the GRO certificate as stated in above post. and they could have been married in the register office.

If married in church.

As late as 1916 the parish register is most likely held by the church they married in and if the register is in an archive you have to know the name of the church to find the entry. The church is in a large town with many churches or denominations, it can take a long time to find and research cost build up to find it unless you live near the archive.  Members on here are unlikely to help as cost of travel,  (Could take many visits and weeks to find) time needed to find the marriage/church in an archive (Travel with refreshment break needed of drink & food cost  ???) when you can buy the GRO certificate

Online info unlikely but worth a try

In my opinion the marriage residence is not always the place of birth. Never forget Workhouse and overseers accounts records of birth
