It will be a quite thick book of roots back to for example king Haakon IV of Norway and roots to a mad boatsman fighting the Russians ships on the sea outside Finland, etc.

Johan's probate is on Ancestry too. He died 3 May 1919.

I just found John in the 1881 census, he is 1st Mate aboard the SS Ayresome of Middlesbrough, at (if I read it correctly) Latitude 48 degrees 50m North, Longitude 5  - 10 West  .

He is entered as aged 36, birthplace Gothenburg.

It's enumerated in Middlesbrough Registration District. Is that because the ship is registered in Middlesbrough?
