Hi - am looking for the above chap's enlistment details, and any info as to where he was educated.

I know he was in UK (Glos) in 1891 living with his g/parents.  Then in 1911 he was visiting in Totnes, Devon.

Any further info would be gratefully received.

He must have been stationed in british india in baluchistan district of what is now pakistan.  Have you looked at that side of his background.    Fbis may help.

This was at the point where the British forces finally captured Tanga from the Germans. An absolutely fascinating part of WW1. Try Tip and Run by Edward Paice, Phoenix 2007 for a good account.

Another mention London Gazette 4 September 1917 p 9157 corrects a previous entry, gazetting him as 2nd Lieutenant to the Infantry Branch of the Indian Army Reserve of Officers 26th March 1915 and promotion to Lt 26th March 1916.

FIBIS suggests that the information on this man will be held at the British Library. My very limited experience suggests that a researcher is more cost-effective than visiting yourself, unless you happen to live in London. A researcher cost me less than two days' worth of return tickets by train and generated more in a day than I did in three!
