Windows 10 / photoshop elements 10
« on: Saturday 30 January 16 22:02 GMT (UK) »
Hi,

Does anyone know if photoshop elements 10 is compatible with windows 10?  I upgraded from windows 7 and some of the functionality seems patchy.  Is there remediation or do I need to but a newer version of photoshop elements.

Thanks,
Spark

Hi...I have been looking at compatibility with Elements 9 and windows 10 as I haven't taken it up yet...information seems patchy but some sources advise uninstalling and reinstalling if it doesn't function properly and it should work. I'm not sure that I want to risk it until I'm sure....I don't fancy forking out for another version if my current version won't work with windows 10.

I find that Windows 10 often needs to re-start.
I turn my pc off at night. My husband leaves his on to sleep, which means it updates itself at 3 am.  He often says he can't get the Internet or something. A re-start usually fixes the problem. If all else fails ...' Re-start'.

I recently upgraded to Elements 14. Before that I ran Elements 11 with no problems, (I upgraded because some of the features looked good, not because 11 would not work). I might add I don't think it's much different for my level of skills!

Have you run the compatibility troubleshooter?

R. click Ps Elements icon & in the dropdown list select trouble shoot compatibility.
You may find PS has a fix for it.

Thanks Jim1,

Windows 10 says that it is incompatible but FREE fix available from Adobe.

Clicked on link, which took me to Adobe french webpage. No dice there

Eventually got to an English Adobe webpage and did live chat for 30 min.  Confirmed, eventually incompatible.  Tried to sell me online monthly adobe product.  It seems you either need to buy Elements 14 or Elements 14 upgrade.

Even with their offers, cheaper on amazon............

My laptop was causing problems but usable at the moment so I wasn't game to accept the free Windows 10 upgrade offer incase a major catastrophe happened and I had no computer at all. I bit the bullet and bought a new laptop yesterday with Windows 10 so started fresh.
Today I started installing the programs I occasionally use and have found my Corel programs don't work and there are hiccups with Elements 10. Don't use them enough to justify buying new versions so will be looking for free programs later.
Office is ok only because I have purchased the latest version for home and work.
Haven't started to install my family history programs yet but not holding my breath.
Just glad I have my old laptop to fall back on at the moment..
Reserving my opinion on Windows 10 as I have just begun using it. At the moment I just have a glorified word processor.
