Smith & Jones
« on: Tuesday 26 January 16 12:54 GMT (UK) »
Still running into a blank can someone help me :
Nicol  Smith, the son of Nicholas Smith and Louisa Jones,  was born in Italy circa 1835 and arrived at Port Chalmers, N.Z. from Melbourne Australia  in 1861 . In January 1864 he married Mary Coleman at Dunedin He died 1894 in Port Chalmers
I'm trying to find his elusive parents and I don't know where to look as all the Italian sources say Smith is not Italian
Could he have been born on board a ship then was registered at some port ?? Where do i begin to look The smith's were involved in shipping right down the generations  thanks for any help this has been ongoing for years

Hello
