Italians in Newcastle - Stackini 1855
« on: Monday 18 January 16 17:45 GMT (UK) »
Hi there,

I am new to Rootschat and have just started work on my husbands family tree.  He has an Italian great -great grandfather Daniel Stackini who was living in New Castle and owned a boarding house - 3 Carliol Square  (Wards Trade directory 1883, 1890, 1898). On his Marriage certificate to Alice Potts in 1855 he was listed  what appears to be a "model maker" but in 1891 census he was a lamplighter.
On the marriage certificate his father is Bartholomew Stackini but he doesnt appear in any censuses or searches in the UK.

My question is how do I find out where Daniel Stackini came from and trace the records further back?  Any ideas??

Also how do I add the list of surnames everyone has here on the end of their posts please??

Thank you Heidi Richards

There's a Daniele Ostachini traverling with a Pangrazio Ostachini to the Uk from France on the City of Boulogne 19th December 1844 it has Italy at the side so that could mean where they came from.

On the trees online they have 9 siblings for Daniel and one of them is a

Antonio Panarazio Stachini
1824–1880
BIRTH 29.01.1824 • Valdena, Parma, Emilia-Romagna, Italy
DEATH 04.09.1880 • 9 Deanhaugh Street, Edinburgh, Midlothian

So it is possible that the Ship details are for the two Brothers coming to the UK together
Rogers-Buckinghamshire

Fisher- Middlesbrough

Foxton - Yorkshire

Hi Lisa, Thank you so much. I have been using the Genes Reunited site. Its seems that Ancestry.com? May have more information. Did you find the immigration and ship records on there also?

Thank you for your help - that's great. I

Heidi
