Asking someone for the 1851 census was going to be my next question! This certainly seems to be the right family if the IGI is to be believed. I don't suppose you have the 1841 census too do you?

You probably have this already, but Margaret's (mother) maiden name was LYON.

there are various Walters born Yarrow around 1783 only one with a "Walter" Scptt Father/Margaret Kennedy born 30- 11-1788 
Walter born 4-1-1787 parents Alex Scott and Christian Scott
Walter bon 17-4-1796 parents James and Eliz Stuart.
