County archives might be the place to start looking for a photo:

Hi,

In the late 1880's, there were 2 temperance hotels on London Road Derby:-

Alliance
 and Peach's

In the 1900's Derby Daily Telegraph there is mention of:-

SMITH'S TEMPERANCE HOTEL, 137, LONDON ROAD, DERBY.

So you need to give an indication of the year/s you are interested and if possible a family name.

Hi, the person was Sarah Jane E Wood, 1911 census states she was servant at 116 London Road Derby, Temperance Hotel, that is all that is in the record. I was interested in viewing a picture of what kind of hotel this was and what it looked like in those days.

Thanks spendlove..

John

I believe the hotel at No 116 was "The Carlton Commercial Temperance Hotel"

Just google "Carlton Commercial Temperance Hotel" or "Carlton Temperance Hotel".

Hi Johm,

You can see modern photo of "Carlton House", now converted to flats:-

Spendlove,
I hope they're not temperance flats!

Nice looking pile.
