HASLER family from Switzerland
« on: Friday 08 January 16 03:57 GMT (UK) »
The HASLER family (two brothers and their old parents) must have emigrated in the middle of the 1970is from Switzerland to NZ (Auckland?).

The parents must have been around 60+ years old at that time.
Unfortunately I don't know anything more about them, except that they had seven children, the remaining five of them stayed in Switzerland. Plus I do have the names of one of the brothers who emigrated and his descendants (all alive in 2011), which I could pm.

I know this is very little to start with. :(

Any help with this family research would be more than welcome!!!

Thanks in advance,
Giselap

Hello Giselap

If you go to this site https://www.archway.archives.govt.nz/ and search for Hasler you will see a list of Swiss people by this name who emigrated 1950s-1970s. Hopefully these names fit your search.

They also appear later possibly arriving with another Swiss family by the name of Gahwiler.

You may find deaths here: https://www.bdmonline.dia.govt.nz/

Good luck :-)

P.S. If the mother was Lina HASLER nee FORSTER b. c1908, she died in 2000 aged 92 (as FORSTER)!

Hi,

If the parents have died could you post their names?

Cheers Janette

Well, Janette, this is exactly my biggest problem, I don't have the parents names, just those of their descendants in NZ and Switzerland plus I know the town where the Hasler family lived before emigration. :(

A possibility, perhaps??............

Anna Maria HASLER, died 1994, aged 86.
Max Eugen HASLER, died 1988, aged 86.
Peter HASLER, died 1997, aged 59.

All buried Central Division High Rise Section, North Shore Memorial Park. Section 1, Block D, Row A, Plot 70 for Anna & Peter. Max, Plot 71.

If on the correct track, I can provide further information including newspaper death notices.

I shall watch this space............ :)

Research genealogy for Max Eugen Hasler of Rorschach, as well as other members of the Hasler family, on Ancestry...........

[Still not certain if on the right track]
