Yes, that's another advantage. 

For England & Wales certificates, there's a lot of empty space that can be cropped off, leaving just the writing.  And for deciphering, the more of the writing we can see the better.  I find posting the written part in two halves is usually about right.

There's no copyright issue in posting certificates, and as long as they are not of living people it's legally allowed to post them on the internet. 

Actually, according to Scotland's People "Images are Crown copyright"

Is that where this one came from?  I know that we are free to reproduce actual certificates subject to certain conditions. 

I wouldn't have thought we need worry about posting extracts for the purpose of getting help in deciphering.

Rootschat's guidance was always that small portions of a certificate could be posted for deciphering purposes and that still seems to be the case.

I have cropped the certificate so I will attach first half now then I will post 2nd half.
