I would be so grateful if anyone could check the Preston archives if they are ever in the area. I am looking for any further info on the death records of who I believe to be my GGgrandfather Richard Robinson who died at Clitheroe workhouse infirmary in 1915 age 78.  I spoke with Preston archives and they informed me that the workhouse usually notified the next of kin on a death. Richards next of kin was his son John Henry Robinson. I was given a reference to look up  PUC-10-1Creed 1914-1934. If I could link John Henry with Richard it would evidence
the research I have done up to now. Preston archives  were unable to look it up for me .
Many thanks.

Hi

I'm sorry there is no mention of John Henry Robinson in the Creed Book 1914 - 1934

The entry for Richard reads

Name - Richard Robinson
DOB - 18/12/1835
Date Admitted - 03/03/1914
Whence Admitted - Clitheroe
Creed - Wesleyan
Name of Informant - Himself
Died - 15/09/1915

I don't know if this has anything to do with Richard, the entry above his reads

Name - Margaret Robinson
DOB - 1840
Date Admitted - 04/04/1881
Whence Admitted - Clitheroe
Creed - Wesleyan
Name of Informant - Herself
Died - 24/05/1914

I hope this is of some use

Kind regards

Simon

Hi Simon,
You did some research for me last week at Preston Archives on my GGrandfather Richard Robinson. You found a DOB 18/12/1835 on the workhouse creed reg. Is there any chance if you are ever in the area again if you could look up his birth details. I know he was born in Mitton and his father was John Robinson. I would like to know who his mother was. Preston have birth records for All Hallows Church, Mitton 1610-1917. I assume the DOB given in the creed reg was correct but I know from census records it was around 1835-1837. Dont worry if you are unable to do the lookup, you have already been a great help .  Many thanks.

Hi

Quote
I know he was born in Mitton

Did he marry Nancy Newton in 1863? Son John Henry was b 1880?

If yes- all census entries show his birthplace as Clitheroe and the 1861/1871 shows his father as Richard

There is a Richard Robinson b Mitton in the Burnley WH in 1911

Hi,
Richard married Betsey Crowshaw in Bury 1861. The address and occupation from the 1861 Bury census  matches the info on his marriage cert which I have. The census mentions that he was born Mitton Yorkshire. The marriage cert names his father as John Robinson. They had one surviving son John Henry Robinson. Betsey died in 1869 in Bury.

Just to give a bit more choice for baptisms with father John in Mitton  ;)

The 1851 has Richard (bn c1837) living with brother John (bn c1817) and sister Ann (bn c1832)  in Clitheroe, all born Mitton
H0107/2256 f333 p44
Johns marriage to Margaret in 1840 confirms his father as John a labourer.
Also a possible daughter Grace in 1851 living Clitheroe bn Mitton -her marriage in 1854 gives father John

Don't forget that ages/dates of birth are unreliable on death records.

Richards baptism from familysearch

https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:N5N7-6V7

Richard Robinson
Christened 15 January 1837
GREAT MITTON,YORKSHIRE
Parents John Robinson & Jane

Maybe it was just the year that was wrong on the creed registers, this christening could tie in with a December 1836 birth
