Blossom, Thomas 1580 - 1623 Massachusetts
« on: Wednesday 23 December 15 06:22 GMT (UK) »
Hello All

I was wondering if there is anyone who has done any research on Deacon Thomas Blossom or his children
Peter Blossom, Thomas Blossom Jnr or Elizabeth Blossom

Deacon Thomas Blossom was on the Second Mayflower to the American Colonies in year of 1629.

Peter Blossom married Sarah Bodfish.
Thomas Blossom Jnr ???? not researched as yet
Elizabeth Blossom married Edward Fitzrandolph.

I do know that Deacon Blossom was involved with the purchase of the Speedwell the other ship that was supposed to accompany the 1st Mayflower. Did not make journey as planned as it was unseaworthy and had to return to England for repairs twice.

The research I have so far is the family settled in Barnstable Massachusetts

I am wondering if any can assist with further details of Ansel Blossom and his Second wife Hannah Wallace they married sometime around 1815 to 1820. Hannah was born around 1790 and died sometime after 1850 as she was listed in US Census of 1850.

They had two sons Charles Francis Blossom died in Massachusetts sometime around mid 1886 and John Wallace Blossom believed to have died in California sometime after 1851 he was listed in 1850 US Census and prior to 1860 as he seems to disappear in 1860 US Census.

John Wallace would have been born around 1820-1821 as he was listed in 1850 Census as 30 years old and a mariner.

I do believe that John Wallace may have been listed on the US Atlantic Ports and Seamans Register. 1790 to 1865.

Any further info on any of the above would be appreciated

Thank you in advance

Cheers
Greg

sending private message of info from book:

Representative Men and Old Families of Southeastern Massachusetts

Of course, any info mentioned would have to try to be corroborated for authenticity, but this info may help you to look in the right direction.

There is considerable info on these people on the WorldConnect site.  Of course, any info should have a source for verification.  I think it says Thomas, Jr. drowned.

On the Ancestry/Heritage Quest database, available through local libraries, I found the following listed:

1860 Census:  Ward 6, New Bedford, Bristol, MA, page 96

living with the John Kenhen family

John W Blossom, 40, b. MA

Unfortunately, the image is unreadable and I have checked familysearch, mocavo, world vital records, fold3, and archive.org for a viewable copy.  None of them even have this image available.  I don't know how the Ancestry/Heritage Quest database was able to decipher it.  Thought it might be of interest.
