Help finding Marriage Sarah Alder

Hi All,
Searching for the marriage of John Aitchison spelt a number of ways Atchison/ Atkinson/ Atcheason and Sarah Alder born abt 1809 Northumberland -  their first child born 1831 Felton Northumberland  I received the birth certificate today of an older child giving me mothers maiden name as Alder.
Any help most appreciated.

I can't see a marriage, but is this her baptism? If so, the marriage may have taken place in the same church.

Would like to find the family in 1841
John Aitchison born 1801  Carham Northumberland
Sarah ( Alder ) b 1809 Bambro. Northumberland
George son 1831 Felton Northumberland
Mary 1834 b Hassall Durham
John 1836 b Monk Wearmouth Northumberland
There are more but not born until after 1841 and I have them on all census.

i think this has got to be the right family, although John and Sarah are shown as born in County Durham.

It wouldn't have been legal to marry in a Presbyterian church in England until 1837.
Quite a few Presbyterians from this part of Northumberland nipped over into Scotland to get married 
Or they had an 'irregular' marriage at Coldstream or Lamberton    http://www.rootschat.com/links/01gpp/   Coldstream is reasonably close to Etal.

Thank you JenB and what a good find, Carpenter fits well as in later census and certificates he is down as Joiner.

They are not showing up in the Northumberland marriage index 1813 - 1837 so I think you are right, Jen - they'll have nipped over the border as so many did.
