    I am in the middle of my first Futurelearn course, as recommended on this site! I am a bit behind but will just keep going. I wondered about the genealogy course, sounds as if I had better sign up.

This sounds really interesting, thanks greensleeves for posting the link. I've lapsed a bit recently with my research,  so this will hopefully get me back on track. Not sure what I'll be doing in March, but I guess I can always catch up with it if I'm away and unable to access the internet for a couple of weeks?

No problem with that, there is no one checking up on you, you work at your own speed.

Done a few FutureLearn courses and some can be seen as taster sessions, especially ones run by lecturers, as you'll often get directed to their courses should you want to study the subject further.

which may give an indication as to what might be covered.

That looks quite heavy - from the courses I've done with FL they are very user friendly. At the end of each course they do give you a link to full time courses the relevant university runs and I expect some people do go on to study. Most though just do the MOOC courses for fun.

That is the fulltime course, NOT the MOOC  . I don't expect the course will be very heavy. What I like about these courses is that lectures have comment threads where students give opinions on.
