I have tried to access, but the recommended books are not available  - not in libraries and out of stock to buy.    Must be a popular course.

I wouldn't worry to much if you can't get the books, they are not necessary to do the course. I've just checked and they are available to download if you have a kindle or a kindle app on a computer or tablet.

I got "Genealogy: Essential Research Methods" out of my library last year. A good read, starts from basics like getting info from relatives etc. I guess they put the books up because there will be some on the course just starting out on the FH journey.
