Free Online Genealogy Course with FutureLearn
« on: Tuesday 15 December 15 12:51 GMT (UK) »
An interesting new course with FutureLearn will be starting in March:

Genealogy - Researching your Family Tree
run by the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow.

These courses are online and entirely free, although you can purchase a certificate of completion at the end, if you wish.

Here is the link for anyone who might be interested:

Thanks GS, just signed up for that. It should be interesting, and hopefully it will open a few more avenues.

I can thoroughly recommend these course, I've done several with them. There is no pressure, you can work at your own speed and do as much or as little as you want. There is usually a good discussion section with others on the course as well, and you can opt to follow people. Perhaps if others sign up from RC we can let each other know and support each other there.

They are repeating another good course there in March as well, "England in the time of Richard III." I found that fascinating and learned a lot from it.

That's great Jan, Jen and 3SD.  We'll have to make sure to introduce ourselves on the course so we can, as Jan suggests, support each other.

I've done quite a few courses with FL now: Hadrian's Wall (twice), England in the time of Richard III, The Battle of Agincourt to name but three.  They have all been thoroughly enjoyable and it will be interesting to do a course where I do actually know a bit of what they're talking about before the course starts!

We're going to make a nice support group aren't we? By following each other we can contibute to conversations, I introduced myself on the course and have already gained a follower!  ;D ;D Nearer the time perhaps we'll have to PM each other the names we use on there, so we know who we are.
