Help with Burial Records

Hi All,
My GGGF was Richard Beckwith, born 1829 in Kirk Hammerton and died 1893 Manchester. His wife was Jane who died in 1903, also in Manchester. I have been unable to trace the burials of either of these two people and would really appreciate any help in this matter.

Was Richard a brass finisher and did two of his children marry at St Thomas' Ardwick Manchester? Also one at St Stephens?

That's my family and I have those records. I just cannot find the burial records, cemetery etc.

I think GrannyM is pointing out churches where it would be worth accessing the burial records.

I see in 1891 RG12; Piece: 3238; Folio: 91; Page: 20 Richard is living at 5, St Clements Place.

I can't see anything on Ancestry - Lancashire or Manchester burials - nor is there an entry on the website Manchester Burials.  Nothing on Genes Reunited Manchester Burial records.

1891 - they are living at 5 St Clement's Place - N W Manchester
1901 - Jane is living with her daughter in Nelson Street - N W Manchester

My assumption would be that they are buried or even cremated within the area of N W Manchester.  Manchester City Council might be your best bet, but I think you might have to have definite dates of death.

Manchester City Council give the following cemeteries which would have been open in 1893:

Manchester General, Philips Park, Southern.  Gorton and Blackley didn't open until later.  Ardwick and Cheetham Hill are on FindMyPast - so that rules them out.  Mancehster Crematorium records were destroyed in the 1940 blitz.  There are some memorials on Manchester and Lancashire FHS - nothing for Beckwith.

Manchester Crematorium opened in 1892 - the second in England.  Cremation was illegal, in England, prior to 1885.
