I am extremely familiar with Trove, the newspaper I am after in 1967. Trove only has until 1954, so it obviously inst going to give me an obituary or death notice.

Trove also has digitised ACT newspapers, including the Canberra Times to 1995  and at a National level, there's the Australian Women's Weekly to 1982.

Cheers,  JM

Hi MasonT78
Do you think her singing career was all in Australia?

Can you tell us why yo think she was involved in opera?

Did she marry Mr Harold ROGERS/RODGERS, the well known pianist …..

No, JM, perhaps not.
I do not see a marriage following the engagement announcement.

This is the birth of Harold Ernest in Victoria

Harold Ernt RODGERS
Parents Ernt Chas RODGERS  & Alice Ann Grenfel JENKIN
At Daylesford
Year 1900
Reg 25965

And he died

RODGERS Harold Ernest
Father Rodgers Ernest
Mother Alice Anne  JENKIN
Death Place CHEL
Age 68
Year 1968
Reg   26038

A look at the Electoral Rolls shows him living with or close to his parents for many of his registrations and I do not see a marriage for him to 1942.

Edna does not share an address with him under either WYETT or RODGERS.

Sue

Hi MasonT78. Have you heard of the Ryerson Index? It is an index to "to death notices and obituaries in Australian newspapers". I've had a look at this site and cannot see a death notice or obituary for Edna. But I do not believe that the index covers all Australian newspapers - yet!

I've had a look on Victoria's births deaths and marriages index and this names Edna's place of death as Glen. I live in Victoria and have not heard of a suburb or town called Glen. There are assorted places with Glen in their names eg Glen Iris, Glen Waverley, Yarra Glen. What I'm trying to say is I do not know if Edna died in Melbourne or in a country town. There could be a death notice for Edna in a local or regional newspaper but it can be hard to find without knowing where she died and which newspapers to search.

Sorry - I think I'm starting to ramble on here!

I've found a death notice for her dad in The Age (courtesy of Trove). What information were you looking for? Did tou just want to confirm that Edna was a singer or did you want other information about her? Is she a relative of yours? I believe you are in the UK. I do not know how familiar you are with Australian websites, If you can tell us what you are looking for perhaps some of us Aussies can point you to different websites to look at.

enigmatic I suggest you read all the posts on the thread including the links.

Ryerson Index is NSWcentric and does include some interstate newspapers but certainly not all.

The OP has the date of death for Edna Beryl WYETT of East Malvern from the Wills and Probate Index on PROV.  I suggest the OP contacts the State Library of Victoria for a lookup for a possible death notice in the Herald Sun...nothing in The Age

Her place of death on the index is the registration district which would be Glen Iris.

Cremated at Springvale
http://smct.org.au/deceasedsearch/result/328729

Edna performed at many social and church functions to 1947 so she would she have had a career in opera?  Enrolled to vote at the same address all her life with occupation home duties.
