Hi, looking for clarification. What is the difference between Rahever and Raheever in Co Cavan and where would I find the former?
All help gratefully received gilli48

HI,
It looks like the spelling, one has an extra "e"
You must have found them in 2 different places, it happens, also it depends on who typed the info into the site.

click on... Text Records
and see all the different ways it has been spelt.

Hi,
Raheever is about 3 Km west of the town of Oldcastle in Co. Cavan but on the Co. Meath border.

Here it is in the OSI 6" mapping series from the 1830s/1840s (other maps eg. 25" map from 1890s/early 1900s and satellite images available to select over to the right of the screen):

Not many buildings there, Griffiths Valuation has a print date for the area of 1856 and lists only one tenant, Edward Rotheram. Note how the outline of the copse in the centre survives to this century.
