Judy, Just seen your site tonight.  I  have put up 2 suggestions on the Ourfamily nearandfar site.   Couldn't find an e mail place but maybe Suggestions is the same thing.

My comments are under the heading Thomas Fletcher.  Basically I'm saying that Thomas Fletcher married twice and all of Mary and Samuel's line comes from Mary's mother Hannah Hopkins NOT Elizabeth Baggs.  Ditto Mary's 3 siblings from her mother - Joseph, Elizabeth and Sarah.  The rest of the huge family was by Elizabeth Baggs.    Thomas F had 12 children in all.  I am descended from his youngest child Isaac Fletcher who married Charlotte Baker.

Also as you may all know by now Benjamin Williams (son of Mary and Samuel )did marry twice.  His second wife was his first cousin Sarah Edgington (her mother was Sarah who married Richard Edgington.  Sarah's mother was also Hannah Hopkins.

Hope that helps - you may already know it though.  Eleo

Hi All, I have the complete family tree for the Williams's of Cote, Bampton coming down from Gweryfed. I met the Pastor of Cote Rev Sparrowhawk who gave me a book with the Williams lineage which matched 99% with mine but mine went back further. I have reasearched the earlier Williams and found my tree to be correct. I have however an unverified link: Richard Williams of Gaer Aberysgyr born about 1600 died (apparantly) at Bampton 1662 bringing the Williams' from Gwernyfed in Wales to Oxford. His 4 great grandsons John, Richard, James & Adin are our great grandfathers! If anyone would like to ask me questions, want a copy of the family tree, just let me know.

Hi Bill

and welcome to rootschat - it is lovely to 'meet' you

That is a very generous offer and I would love to take you up on it,  I will admit I am not even sure that my branch of the Williams are part of the same family,  despite coming from Kingston Bagpuzie which is very close to Cote my ancestress Theodora was born there in 1742 to Thomas & Ann Williams and later lived in Abingdon.   I will Pm you my E-mail address

 :)

Hi Debbie,
I have emailed you the tree - very interesting - even one uncle a missionary eaten by cannibils! :o
You can also see the Leader influence in my family Edward Leader of Wootton must have been an incredible guy if his neice got his surname as a middle name!

Chat more once you've studied the tree.

Hi Bill

your tree sounds very interesting.

I have a Sparrowhawk marring into the Williams family in the early 18th centuary to a Hannah Williams born 1704, but no further details. This info was from a cousins family in New Zealand.
