Any information on the Birks in Heanor/Marlpool and links to the mines in the area would be great. Date abt 1835.

Could you be a bit more specific on the names of the 'Birks' you are looking for please?

Having had a quick look there is a Joseph/Hannah Birk in the Heanor/Marlpool area, are these of interest to you?

Birth Date - 7 Nov 1833
Baptism Date - 19 Jan 1834
Baptism Place:   Heanor, Derby
Father - Joseph Berks
Mother - Hannah

Yes if they were living at 37 Mundys Row, Marlpool, Heanor, Derbyshire in 1841 and Joseph Oxley was living with them then I would be very interested in any information relating to specific mines they would have worked at. Jo

A rather belated reply - only just seen this post.

Wlliam Birks was my g/g/gfather and Joseph Oxley his grandfather who is living with them in 1841.
William's family is still at 37 Mundys Row in 1961.
I know he was a Coal Miner but unfortunately I do not know where he worked.
I have a very detailed family tree so if you need any more details please get in touch - are you related to the Birks or Oxleys?
