Howden marriage Dec Qtr 1862 - Look up at Beverley Archives
« on: Thursday 19 November 15 09:47 GMT (UK) »
I'm hopeful that someone going to Beverley would be kind enough to look up a marriage for me.

I'm trying to establish the details for JOSEPH HEMINGWAY who married in Howden sometime in the Dec Qtr 1862.  I'm fairly sure it was to Mary Richardson, but it is the detail that I am in need of.  I believe that Joseph was illegitimate and as much info from the marriage could help ensure that I trace the right Joseph.

Thank you.

Hi

To lookup a marriage at the records office you need to know which church it took place in

Here are all the areas contained within the Howden RD

http://www.ukbmd.org.uk/genuki/reg/districts/howden.html

Is this the right 1871 entry for East Cottingwith.  All born there except Mary

Joseph Hemingway 34
Mary  39 b Partington
Sarah Ann    7
Mary   5
Lucy   3
Hanah 11 Months

That is the right family in 1871.

I can't tell which church the marriage took place in as I don't have a look up table from the page number, but based upon the page number it looks as if it might be parish of Howden itself.

If anyone has a table, the page is (9d) 165.

Here's hoping.

There is no sign of the marriage on YorkshireBMD, FindMyPast, Ancestry or FreeREG.
Transcriptions and NBI are merely finding aids.  They are NOT a substitute for original record entries.

Thanks avm228.  Must use marriage locator in future.  That's good news and all I need now then is for some very kind soul going to Beverley Archives to look it up for me.

Still hoping.

The images for the parish church in Howden are available to view on FindMyPast.  There is NO marriage in the December quarter of 1862 for Joseph Hemingway at that church.
