Excellent! A negative result is still a result.

So I now have two new research questions: (a) where was the person I'm looking for in Sept 1939, if he wasn't in that household, and (b) who is the mystery redacted person?

As fun as this guessing game is, I'm hoping the other death certs I submitted come back with more positive results.

Has anyone successfully had a black box removed and a record opened yet?

It's good to know that they are turning requests around relatively quickly.

I'm keeping an eye on the transcription errors I reported on Tuesday. As they were reported at TNA I won't get a notifiction.

You may never know where your person of interest was until their 100th birthday plus one day, the same for the redacted person.

If they were newborns in Sept 1939, you've got a long wait.

Dawn - did you infer the redacted individuals will appear the day after their 100th birthday? My father would have been 100 years and two days today - and he's not there yet

I think I remember reading that FindMyPast would unredact closed records once a week.

pstainthorp - your mystery person may be completely unrelated, a lodger possibly? Can't know for sure until their record is opened. Remember, if you've already used credits to buy that record, you won't have to pay again to see new people as they are revealed :)

I'm not having a great deal of luck with these.

I submitted 4 death certs for 4 closed records.

The first came back as "The reason for this is the name is not listed in the household" as I've already said.

The second has been opened - hooray! And I've learnt some new information about a relative - double hooray.

The third and fourth: I received emails telling me the records have been opened, but when I checked they haven't. Findmypast have just told me they have run into "technical" problems opening some closed records, but that they expect to have those problems fixed by tomorrow.
