Looking for death of James MacMillan King
« on: Friday 13 November 15 04:53 GMT (UK) »
I have looked at  what is available online but I haven't been able to trace my man.  James MacMillan KING s/o David & Margaret KING & husband of Dorothy born 26 Mar 1915 Winnipeg, Canada.  As far as I know he had a factory in Winnipeg in the 1950s and any assistance would be appreciated.
Regards,
Atina - New Zealand.

Unfortunately, you will find nothing online as our privacy laws are very strict, and certainly, anything as recent as what you are looking for would only be available to the family upon request to the province where he died.

I did find an engagement notice in the Winnipeg newspaper on 1 October 1938 for the marriage of Dorothy Isobel, only daughter of Mrs. William Huggins, to Mr. James MacMillan King, only son of Mr. & Mrs. David King.   Wedding to take place at St. Matthews Church on 29 October 1938 at 3 p.m.

Also found a wedding notice for a Grace Wilson, youngest daughter of Mrs. James King, Victor Street, and the late James McMillan King, Glasgow Scotland, in April 1921, to Gilbert MacLachlan of Glasgow.  Given in marriage by her brother, David King.  Bridesmaid was Miss J. King, sister of the bride.

Those were from the Winnipeg newspaper, but those are only available up until the 1950s or so.

Hi Eileen,

I couldn't even take a guess about when he died -  his children were born in the 1940s.  Would it be possible to see if there is a death notice in the paper for a David KING born abt 1885 in Scotland & he married Margaret Robinson PICKLES in Winnipeg - David arrived in Canada in 1905 & was the father of James.

Regards,
Atina.

David KING married Margaret Robertson PRICKLER 4 Jun 1914 in Winnipeg.

1921 census has David age 35, Margaret age 31 & James age 6 at 197 Aubrey St Winnipeg.

David died 26 Jul 1966, see attached obit from Winnipeg Free Press 28 Jul 1966, note son James in Edmonton Alberta.

Margaret died 1 Aug 1981 at St Norbert Nursing Home Winnipeg age 91, survived by son James and 2 grandsons I & B all from Edmonton.

From his parents obituaries it is known that he died sometime after 1981 probably in Edmonton.  Since his parents were both cremated, he may also have been, so might not be found in cemeteries.  Not found in Edmonton newspaper obits going back 10 years from present.
