Hi Wazza,
Welcome to Rootschat.
Do you mean Mendham?

JOHN Hill Baptised 13 March 1757, All Saints, Mendham
Parents JOHN/GAN
Also;
ELIZ, 23 March 1749/50 (Jno/Jane)
JANE, 23 May 1752 (Jno/Jane)
MARY, 30 Jan 1754 (Jno/Jane)

I would say the Gan on Johns is Jane but may have been hard to read for transcriber.

Burial same Church;
JANE Hill 3 Aug 1801 age 86

Is this your Johns Marriage same Church:
John HILL/Mary WOODS, 24 Sep 1781
A MARY Hill was a Witness

All above on FreeREG.

Trish :)

EDIT;
JOHN Hill Buried same Church, 1 Nov 1847 age 90 and MARY Hill 10 Oct 1838 age 75

Thanks Trish, but it is Rendham and not Mendham. The name John Hill is a very common one indeed.

Hi Wazza,

I know John Hill is very common but I'm researching a John Hill (bp.1757, d.1834). Married to Sarah Beecroft (bp.1762 - d.1838). He's my great, great, great grandfather. He would have been born around the Rendham area. If you have any info on his parents that would be great as this is as far as I've got with the Hill side of the family.

Thanks a lot.

Thomas Hill

Sorry but I have had correct my earlier statement. This should make more sense. I am pleased to hear from you Thomas. I am descended from Thomas Hill the innkeeper of the Queens Head, Hacheston. Thomas was the 2nd son of John Hill & Frances King of Framlingham. He had an elder brother named John and I am trying to verify that John Hill of Framlingham married  Joanna Ward at Rendham in the 1750's and had two sons John 1757 and James 1763 in addition to their other children who are listed on Family Search.  A James Hill appears in the 1851 census for Easton as being a native of Rendham born abt 1763. I have recently ordered a microfiche for Rendham which should provide the answers.
I have lots of information for both Hacheston and Easton which I would be happy to share.
By the way I am in Australia. My email address is readie2@optusnet.com.au

Hey,

Thanks for replying. So we might be distantly related! I'm in Norwich, Norfolk and have family that still live in Woodbridge/ Framlingham area. I meant that this John Hill was my great x4 grandfather, so John Hill and Francis King could be my great x5 grandparents! I have a grandfather clock that's been in the family around 200 years. I want to research it's origins also. It says Framlingham on the front. I can send a photo if you're interested. I also have some photos of Jarrod Hill who was the grandson of John Hill and Sarah Beecroft if you're interested. I'll email you. Thanks for your help!

Is the clock a Barker or a Dickerson by any chance?

Also have one of our Bridges men marrying Caroline Beecroft in 1860 in Fram.

SM ...
Every time I find an ancestor,
I have to find two more!

SUFFOLK - Pendle, Stygall, Pipe, Fruer, Bridges, Fisk, Bellamy, Sparham - all link to  Framlingham
DERBY - Bridges and Frost (originally Framlingham/Parham)
NOTTINGHAM - Lambert & Selby
BERKSHIRE/then Hammersmith LDN - Fulker
LDN/MDX - Murray, Clancy, Broker, Hoskins, Marsden, Wilson, Sale

GGfather Michael Wilson born Cork, lived Fulham London - moved to Boston USA 1889, what happened next?
