Middleton of Fort William Rainey River
« on: Sunday 08 November 15 20:33 GMT (UK) »
Looking for anyone researching James Henry Middleton b. 1817 to parents James John Middleton (b. 1880) and Louise Anne who emigrated from England 1908.

Census of 1921 shows living in Fort William Rainey River, Ontario.

Tks

Don

Hi Don,

Fort William and Port Arthur were amalgomated into Thunder Bay back in the 1970s. I travel to Thunder Bay on business every once in a while - what info are you wanting. Did John and Louise Ann have any children?

Hi again Don,

Sorry should have said James John. I believe the son was born 1917 :-) I will see what info I can find on the son, James Henry Middleton.

Well thank you very much. I don't know what you can find or where you could look,  but I'll just throw out what information I have.

James John Middleton was my uncle and I have a letter he wrote to my mother undated but certainly well after 1918, as he writes as an old man with aches and pains. This was with address 728, Norah St. Fort William.
The 1921 Census however shows him with wife and son James Henry born 1917 (not 1817 as I had shown) at 1105 Edward St. Ward 4 Fort William.
Of course I'd like to know of any other progeny of James John or James Henry.
While I appreciate you kind offer and am grateful I must insist you not put yourself to any trouble.
Perhaps if there is a FHS that you could identify I could follow up.
Thank you once again
Don

Hi Don,

I have traveled on Edward and Nora street many times. I have made a note of the street numbers now and can take a snap of the house next time i travel there - might be before Christmas break :-)

The Brodie Street branch of the Thunder Bay Public Library has good genealogical resources there (and friendly librarians as well ;-) I believe the Thunder Bay branch of the OGS meets there as well. I am guess that they can lookup your uncle's directory info as well (in case he moved around a bit more). They may be able to identify any of J H's siblings, if any. There is also a FHL in Thunder Bay, but I am unsure as to when it is open.

Hope this helps,
