Not on the 1939 register?
« on: Wednesday 04 November 15 16:08 GMT (UK) »
I can't find my grandparents on the 1939 register and wonder if one page is missing?

i know exactly where they were living as my mother was born earlier in Sept 1939 but I can't find them however I search - they are not "findable" by searching their names or address.

All the odd numbers of the street show when I do an address search but they lived at no 16! Has anyone got any ideas or can anyone find them?

Their details are
Richard Henry Clegg b 1905
Mildred Clegg b1910
Address 16 Leslie Ave, Thornton Cleveleys, Lancashire

Thanks

if it a reasonably short road, try adjusting the "Item" number part of the reference up or down one from the reference of the other side of the road and looking through that item.
The "Item" is the third part of the reference (e.g. in red RG101/1234D/012/14).
If it errors, that could mean that sheet is missing/mis-indexed and is worth querying by e-mail/"Live Chat" with Customer Service at FindMyPast.

I have a similar problem -  the house my parents shared with another family doesn't appear at all although the other half of the semi does.  Apart from the one child of the other family, all were born before 1914 and all are deceased.  Guidance gratefully received! (Just seen another thread that indicates that mother(died 1998) would not appear but father died 1988 and other folk all died pre 1991)

It is with great difficulty I share with you that in the early hours of 07 August 2021, Maximilian passed away unexpectedly but peacefully.

I found my parents after all, wrongly put next door!  I have told FindMyPast and hope to see it corrected in due course.

They are here:

Yes that is them!!! Thanks so much! I can't understand why they come up now and didn't before - guess maybe the missing page has been added but if you do an address search there is still no 16 Leslie Ave!

Is there anyway to see what address they are at on the register without unlocking it?

Three of the even number households look to be indexed just under "Leslie", but 16 isn't one of them.

If you do a name search for those under a road name "Les" within Thornton Cleveley, 51 (open) names appear (including the Cleggs). When this extends to "Lesl" that drops to 30 (excluding the Cleggs), so they are not alone in being "elusive". This drops further to 27 when you further extend to "Lesley A", so the three addresses indexed just as "Lesley" would seem to contain three open people (one contains 2 open, another contains 1 and the third none - there are varying numbers of closed individuals).

I have tried to get the fourth character, but without success. Either I missed a letter when going through, or it is not one of the 26 letters, but something else - number symbol, etc). I'm guessing when you can work out that fourth character, you'll find those "missing" 21.

I cannot find my father on the  register. I can find his first wife Ellen who died in 1946/7, but Dad seems to be missing. He was William Arthur Briscoe born 1908 in Birmingham. He wasn't in the services as his eye sight was so bad ,but was a fireman. Any ideas welcomed.

Thanks so much for this! I paid out and downloaded the image only to receive an email yesterday that it will be included in FindMyPast subscriptions from 16th feb!!
