McInalty
« on: Tuesday 27 October 15 02:15 GMT (UK) »
Hi
I wonder if anybody can help me. I am researching my g g aunts mother Jessie McInalty, there were different spellings of her name and one was Jessie McNalty, I think she was born in 1831, she was transported to Van Diemens Land (Tasmania, Australia) in 1850 for theft and sentenced to seven years, Jessie m. James McKenna in Hobart, Tasmania in 1854. What I am interested in is when and where she was born, her parents and siblings.
Thank you
Steve

Jessie's convict records are digitised on the Tas Archives website:

Her indent names her sisters as Betsey and Mary who were also both convicts and her native place is near Glasgow.

Elizabeth (Betsey) names her father as James.

Mary gives her native place as Belfast, mother Katherine, brother John, sisters - first name I think is supposed to be Jessy, and Betsey transported 4 years ago to VDL.  All living in Scotland.
