McIntosh family immigration to Melbourne 1959
« on: Monday 26 October 15 14:57 GMT (UK) »
My uncle George McIntosh and family immigrated to Melbourne in 1965 from Darlington, County Durham, UK. I am trying to find any information about them to include them in my family tree.

Many thanks,

Alan (Capps)

Your Uncle George was born when? He died when? His father was? Sorry about the questions but there are a lot of George McIntosh's :)

Hi,

Firstly, I have got the date of immigration wrong in the subject heading - it should be 1959. Very sorry.(Heading corrected.)

George J was born 1926 or 1927 in Stockton, Co Durham.

He died ?

His father was Thomas Maven McIntosh.

His wife was/is Barbara born 1926 (nee Langford, I think)

Only known son was born 1957.

Many thanks, Alan

Apologies! I'm new to this game.

I suppose what I'm really looking for is where I might find the best links to immigration to Australia.

Thanks, Alan

Hi Alan

Not only are there privay rules on Rootschat, Australia has strict rules also. I've edited out the sons' name.

There are many people still alive born in the 1920's. Your topic will be edited further if others are still alive.

Give it a short while and the Australians will soon be back offering their help and suggestions.

Have you found them on the outgoing passenger lists?

Have you tried looking for them in the electoral registers or phone book?

His father was Thomas Maven McIntosh.

some info. on his father Thomas

Hi DR400, ;D Welcome from me as well to Rootschat. I will include a link to the Phone directory for possible LIVING relatives of George. Neither are in Corowa NSW, but instead in Rutherglen Victoria.

The listing shows two in same street. I think a call may be very worthwhile.

Welcome to RC. ;)

Neil
