« on: Wednesday 13 July 05 20:01 BST (UK) »
Hi

Could anyone help me please to trace the Wright family, son Alfred born St Georges Hanover Square 1847. Is it possible to buy 1851 census as I have purchased one for Salehurst, Sussex via Amazon. Thanks for any info :) Sue

Hi Sue

This could be him.

1851 Census
HO107/1477 Folio 394b & 395a
31 Commercial Road
St George Hanover Square
Middlesex

WRIGHT

William, Head, Married, 40, Accountant, b Hatfield, Herts
Frances, Wife, 31, b St Geo. Middlesex
Valentine, Son, 10, Scholar, b St Geo. Middlesex
William, Son, 8, Scholar, b St Geo. Middlesex
Kate, Dau, 6, Scholar, b St Geo. Middlesex
Alfred, Son, 2, b St Geo. Middlesex
Walter Percy, Son, 3 months? b St Geo. Middlesex
+ 2 female servants.

The complete registration district of St George Hanover Square has been indexed by the London and North Middlesex FHS.  Even though this is not listed on their website, you should still be able to order a copy if you wish.  If you do not have a microfiche viewer, you local main library should have one which you could use.

Hi Rick
Thanks for your quick reply, unfortunately I think it's the wrong Alfred as he is only 2yrs old in 1851, such a pity. I am assuming that, as he was born in 1847 that he and his family are still in St Georges 4 years later but if his family were also in the Army they could be anywhere!!
Will try to keep you posted :)

Best Regards Sue

p.s. where exactly in london is St Georges Hanover Square please, my geography of the city is very poor ???

Hi Sue

As I intimated, he was just a possiblity, but it is also worth bearing in mind, that census ages are often "off" ;D

The only way to be certain is to check the complete 51 index for St George Hanover Square.  Assuming of course that his parents didn't move out of the area after his birth ::)

St George Hanover Square was an area of West London north of the river, quite a posh bit, which included areas such as Knightsbridge, Belgravia and Mayfair.
