Looking for Meldrums from Aberdeenshire. William Meldrum left Scotland for Newfoundland in abt 1850. Any connection or information  is appreciated.

Hi

Do you know his age when he left in 1850, with that information he might be enumerated in the 1841 census

This could be my Williams Father. William Meldrum that we have traced was born Jan 4  1839. He could well be in the 41 census. Siblings:

   ii.   THOMAS MELVIN, b. 1831.
   iii.   JANET MELVIN, b. November 20, 1833.
   iv.   MARION MELVIN, b. June 07, 1841.
   v.   JESSIE MELVIN, b. December 29, 1835.

Hi Bernie,

Fould the following on IGI, all born to William Melvin/Antionette Stephens @ Abbey (Paisley) Renfrew :

13/01/1831 - Thomas

20/11/1832 - Janet

29/12/1835 - Jessie (christened 19/07/1843)

04/01/1839 - William (surname was Melvin not Meldrum)

07/06/1841 - Marion (christened 19/07/1843)

However, could find no trace of any of above in 1841 census. Sorry

Hi Bernie

Went back on IGI with William Meldrum, born 1839 @ Scotland :

2 @ 1837 - Dunfermaline + Scoonie

3 @ 1840 - Angus + Forgue + St Nicholas

2 @ 1841 - Aberlemno + Strathmiglo

Sorry I haven't helped

No No you've been of great help. When you have very little info to work on you have to narrow your search. Melvin/Meldrum are often intermixed so your research has confirmed the Melvin that was of dispute and narrowed the search of Meldrum
I thank you. I'll return the favour if I can or I owe you a Beer!
