Well it appears that both Trystan, Paul E and I are out of the running.  The conspiracy theorists among you may think that Friday's crash of Rootschat was due to Trystan running a routine on the server to automatically create 250 new Rootschatters and so win the bet but I personally am having none of this ;D

According to my screen, the number of members now sits at 19772 - up 261 since Lloydy's post of last Monday (one week ago give or take a few hours).  Based on the rate of increase in Rootschatters over the last week, the men in Trilbies have once again waived their arms a lot and have come up the the following new odds:

So the new favourite is Liverpool Annie

Would this uncanny ability to predict the future have got her burned at the stake in a previous century? ;D

You've missed your vocation, Al (unless bookmaker IS your vocation!!)! :)

As I raced home from a long weekend in Durham, I was confident I would have been able to collect on my 5.45pm bet.  I blame server disruption for the shoddy failure to garner the extra 400 members that would have made a difference.

Even my attempt at a late bit of publicity in Your Family Tree magazine didn't come in time!    Maybe I should have sent the press release to Practical Family History Website Design as well...

cheers (licking his wounds)

What are you trying to say Al Crighton ?
My boss calls me "Princess" though he probably does mean "Witch"
but I did do a fetching Joan of Arc burning at the stake -
in plays in the park!!!

With 2 more Rootsbetters out of the running today and less than 180 to go to the magic 20,000 I have to say that it's far too late for new bets. ;)

 ;D ;D

Boo-hoo  :'( :'( :'( :'( only just found this thread - is it REALLY too late to bet ??

As I'm hopeless at winning anything (except arguments) I would have pulled 12 August at 10.30am out of the hat.

Hi Mobo

No wonder you're hopeless at winning anything... :)

We are now only 95 Rootschatters away from 20,000.
Currently, we're getting around 50 new registrations per day.

Looks like Al's right, the money has to be on Liverpool Annie with this one - although a miraculous late spurt today might just let someone claim 5/1 on Bee.

Its not impossible - on 10 June 2005, there were 180 new members registered!

Now, if we all invited just one more friend to join today... :)

cheers

Paul
