George William Livard
« on: Tuesday 06 October 15 04:06 BST (UK) »
Hi

George William born 1878 in Wandsworth Surrey.

1909 he married a Dorothy Angelina Ann Starr in Queensland Australia.

I am trying to find when he left UK  and arrived in Australia if possible.

The earliest I have him is in 1903 Census in Queensland - Cab Driver.

Any help would be gratefully accepted.

Kaysands ???

There is a George William (b. abt 1876)  aboard the "Wilcannia". Departed London and arrived in Sydney, NSW 10 July 1902. He is by himself and lists himself as a Fireman, aged 26.

Forget that forgot his last name!!!!!

Back to the drawing board....

Trying to see the latest census he appears on but not having much success.  His parents both died in 1884 and I can see his younger brother Charles as an orphan in 1891 at the children's home in Chertsey.  In 1897 he joined the RN, but I can't see a record of George doing the same.

Have you found George in any census?

Hi Dundee

His mother died in 1884 and his father Charles Frank Livard remarried in 1908, and died in 1945.

That was his brother marrying in 1908, not his father.  He was aged 25, an RN seaman and his father Charles was deceased. Their father died in 1884.  The witnesses were all from the bride's family.

It would appear he had a number of occupations but I can't see him a cab driver in 1903.  There are no surviving census in Australia.  You are looking at Electoral Rolls.

Hi to all

Thank you for all of that.  Most appreciated.  You have helped a lot.

Sorry, it must be old age creeping up on oneself.

Kind regards

Kaysands
