Hi,

I have found a marriage in St.Georges in the East, London.
John Massey married Mary Austen 18/04/1736
I know London is a long way from Wye but looking further into the tree several of the Massey/Macey family went onto live in St.Pancreas and were licencees, they were all born in Wye,Kent. I have found 3 so far that went to London and were there in 1851. Was puzzled why the move back to London any how.
Also found a John Massey married to Sarah Bolton in Teynham 4/6/1805. This is the son of Robert Macey/Massey and Mary Castle. On a further census John has the surname Macey. This could then be the link I am looking for.....maybe. Alot of the family also used Massey of Masey for surnames. This John and Mary could therefore, hypothetically, be the grandparents of the John I am searching for.
Any ideas on this one at all. Need to try and find some births for the said John and Mary Massey.
Thanks
Sue

The children of Robert and Mary as baptised at Wye

1777 Robert
1778 Elizabeth
1780 William
1782 John
1784 Thomas
1786 George
1789 Samuel twin
1789 Jane twin
1791 Mary
1794 Francis
1798 Ann

Robert the father is (I assume) the son of another Robert and Mary!  He was baptised at Wye in 1752.

Hope this helps in some way.  ???

Tony

Hi,
Sorry to be a pain but yet another look up. The marriage of Robert Macey and Mary Castle/Cassell 17/03/1776. And also Richard Macey and Catherine Carpenter 30/05/1789.
Have researched these families but no access to looking up witnesses. How would I go about this and on what site. Have quite a few to look up but dont want to keep pestering.

Many Thanks
Sue

The witnesses to the Robert Macey marriage were

Francis Allen? This is my reading of the surname,
Rich'd Beeching (Clerk or some other Church Officer)

Richard Macey's marriage at Eastchurch, Isle of Sheppey
John Goodwin
Richard Tile

Parish Registers from the Deanery of Canterbury are available on Find my Past, a Subscription or (possibly) pay to view site.  However, I should point out that that (four Parishes I think) are missing.  Plus some parish records are not complete.
