St Teath

Ann bapt 15 Apr 1837
Richard 1 Jan 1839
Willam 17 Sep 1840
on William's baptism it gives mother's name as Mary Brown, i.e Brown is her middle name, so confirms the marriage I found to Mary Brown Richards and could mean her mother's maiden name was Brown.

haven't found mary yet, but there is a gap for her to fit in. maybe mistranscribed.

Going back to Fanny Gill 1880-1917 for a moment

Free BMD

Deaths 1917

Q1
Fanny Gill
St Columb (Reg District for St. Breock)
Age 55
V: 5C P: 132

This means that this Fanny would have been born around 1862, however, I couldn't find a recorded registration of birth for a Fanny/Frances Gill in Cornwall around 1880. Also when I took another look at the 1881 Census it has Fanny as a son not daughter - thought this was just a simple error!  Until I looked at the 1891 Census.  There is no Fanny with the family but there is a Frank B: 1880, Port Isaac. There is also an additional daughter Annie B: 1882.

Births 1879

Q4
Frank Gill

of the merchant seaman's records gives William's birth year as 1841 and it would be calculated from recorded age. He would have been born after civil registration started, so if you have his birth cert it would confirm

Betsy Gill married Richard Smith at St John (don't know where that is but both gave St John as abode) on 21 Aug 1856. record on Cornwall opc. Richard was a seaman. Record confirms her father is John. One of the witnesses was a Catherine Smith

1881 census has Fanny as a son, the female Fanny Gill death may be her married name.

1861 census has a Fanny B Gill a few months old, daughter of Rebecca Gill. There are lots of other children and a lodger called Thomas Bunt. I did see some St Teath baptisms for some children with Bunt as middle name, so it looks as though he was recognised as the father of some of them.
The census says she is unmaried, but when Rebecca and Thomas married later in 1861 she was a widow, her father had different surname so likely to be right.

Rebecca could be widow of a sibling of one of the people we're looking at. Her maiden name was Chilcott.

Some additional info on Frank Gill B: 1879 D: 1962 Bath - he is a Coachman in Bath, Somerset in 1901 and 1911 Census.

He marries Anstise Kate Norton (B: 17 Feb 1882 Topsham D: Q1 1976 Bath) on 20 Jan 1908 in Topsham, Devon.  Her father's name is John Norton.

They have a daughter Kathleen who is 9 months old B: Bath in the 1911 Census.

burial for Richard Gill of St Endelion at St Teath on 26 Oct 1851 age 81. could be your first Richard. He is on 1851 census visiting the Brown family. Mrs Brown is called Betsy and born in Poughill about 1813, could she actually be his daughter?
His place of birth looks like Advent.
