Hi Just joined this site because I am a descendant of Elizabeth Mitchell whos father was Abraham Tipper and mother Hannah Sweatman.
Agree with all that has been said as mathes what I have found
Agree and confirm his death
Burial year   1838
Burial date   16 Apr 1838
Burial place   St Mary De Crypt, Gloucester, Gloucester, England
Also found that he was convicted of attempted murder of his wife Hannah in 1827. This find is on ancestry. happy to send the page but cant seem to attach it here. Cant find which quater session it went to but states it does, has anyone more info on this please

Hi Kerry,

I have a couple of records of this in my Ancestry.com tree. The mention the Michaelmas Sessions, 1827, and that he was in jail form 12th - 16th October 1827? Although the record states that he threatened to kill his wife, rather than attempted to..  I will have to check my other computer and see if I have anything else.

Cheers,

Christine.

Thanks Chrsitine, yes threatened(sorry), I have that too but had difficulty reading the writing thanks couldn't translate the Michaelmas, thought it said quarter sessions. I used library ancestry so can't double check but I don't think there was anything else on ancestry. I don't know if we can find more detail at the National Archives but no luck so far online.
Cant find a Hannah (born in oxford in any census... do you have anything on her death? There are too many options on freeBDM, but she my have died before 1837.
I have ordered Abrahams death certificate so it will be interesting to see if the informanant is Hannah or not
Many thanks for your response- how are you related is it through their daughter Elizabeth (like me) or William James or George

Hi Kerry,

I am descended from Elizabeth as well. Through her son William J .

I don't have Hannah's death but presume she died pre 1837... might have some info but need to check other computer. She may have remarried after Abraham died.. Also, all records say she was born in Stroud, Gloucestershire,  not Oxford.

Ciao 😁

I found a Hannah Sweatman born oxford 1801, must have the wong Hannah then. I will re visit... thank you
I am also related through her son William who married Ada Pitman.... re the line that went to Australia that is John Frances.

I cant find a remarriage either for Hannah. Might not be able to solve that then.
I had another look at what I have regarding the prison sentence for Abraham and it doesn't mention Michaelmas there, where did you see that please?
Thanks again, Kerry

If you search for Hannah SwEEtman rather than Sweatman that may help.  :) Hannah and Abraham's marriage records have her as being 'of this parish' meaning the parish they married in, Stroud.

The prison records I have for Abe (on Ancestry.com) are from the Gloucestershire,  England,  Prison Records, 1728 - 1914.

Yes, William and Ada are/were my 2xgreat grandparents.
