A death of a possible daughter?  https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:2WD7-HPH  It's hard to be sure with common first names.

On the Italiangen.org database, it shows a marriage record for James Reil on 01 Aug 1882, and for Katie O'Brien on 01 Aug 1883, both in Manhattan with certificate #26163.  Clearly, one or both of these indexes contains errors, so it is probably a good idea to order a copy of the original record from the NYC Municipal Archives.

The Italiangen.org database also shows possible death records for James Rail, but it is difficult to know for sure which one, if any, is for him.
But it may provide leads that could be explored further.

If it is supposed to be O'Brien, here's another possibility of a daughter named Delia:  https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:2WL6-1NY

There is a possible match for the Delia I found above with 3 other Real children in an orphanage in the 1900 census - https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:MSKG-JGK

Delia seems to be either working in or living in various hospitals in all further census entries.

1910 - https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:M587-X6R  (She is enumerated as a daughter, but there are a big list of seemingly unrelated people at the St. Joseph's Hospital for Consumptive and the relationships are all crossed out.)

1915 state census has her transcribed as a patient at St. Joseph's hospital, but there are a lot of dittos in the list of relations - https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:K9X5-V5P

1920 - https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:MJTH-2D5  Lists her as an inmate of the hospital.

1930 census has her working in the kitchen of the same hospital with Helen Real, domestic, listed above her - https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:X7DS-G9S

1940 has her as a kitchen maid at St. Joseph's - https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:K3TJ-Q5W

I wonder if this could be the death of wife Kate - https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:2W6P-HZL  It fits with the age and could explain the possible children being in an orphanage.

On www.fultonhistory.com, there are some newspaper articles referencing this death.  One in the NY Evening Post said her husband was laborer John Real, so maybe not the right family?

The Helen Real on the 1930 census is probably the Nellie Real on the 1900 census (same age and the parents birth places are the same for Delia and Helen).

Thomas Real
One of the 3 other children on the 1900 census is Thomas REal born 1888.  He is on the 1910 census as a roomer, single & employed as a driver:

Thomas is on the 1915 NY state census, unmarried, mechanic

He is on the 1930 census, still in NY unmarried and a mechanic:
Source:Manhattan, New York, New York; Roll: 1564; Page: 6A; Enumeration District: 0651

He is at the same address in 1940, still single and now a porter at a bank.

Molly Real

The 4th Real child on the 1900 census was Molly Real born 1893

Molly (Mollie) is still at the St Josephs orphanage on the 1905 state census
