I see what you mean but my aunt said he has died as xmas cards stopped a few years ago

Could still be alive (in a nursing home, unable to write, moved house and lost address, etc.)
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

thanks you might be right,, the old aunt of mine would like to trace him if he is still alive as they are the only ones left in the family.
