John NICHOLAS
« on: Saturday 05 September 15 17:10 BST (UK) »
Hi everyone

I wondered if you could give me some advice please?

My husband`s Gt Uncle,John Nicholas was born on 14th April 1903 in Cheshire. At some point in time,he moved to Driffield. He died on the 26th November 1972 in East Riding General Hospital,Driffield. The person who registered his death may or may not be related?.It stated that his body was to be buried.
Itelephoned Driffield cemetery office yesterday & they had no record of him being buried there.Could anyone tell me if there are any churchyards nearby please? & which ones they are?John`s home address was 105 Westgate,Driffield.
Many Thanks
Kate

Hi

Looking on Streetmap, Westgate crosses Church Lane and Church Street.

Try this for Driffield churches http://www.genuki.org.uk/big/eng/YKS/ERY/Greatdriffield/index.html

Have you considered the possibility that he may have been buried back in Cheshire?

Hi Bee

Thank you for your advice.

He could have been buried in Cheshire?,but knowone seems to know anything about him?.He was one of 15 children,so maybe he moved away to Yorkshire to get away?who knows?

Another site http://www.driffield.co.uk/index.htm it does have a forum so maybe you could put a question on there, also there might have been an obituary in the local paper http://www.driffieldtoday.co.uk/

happy hunting

Just a thought.  Maybe his will states where he wanted to be buried (particularly if he wanted to be buried in Cheshire)
