Your enquiry about Cudbells of Barford seems to have hooked some descendants in Australia!

Your info re Samuel and Mary gives us the parents of Hannah, who married Wright Thompson in 1831, Barford, Norfolk, and left same year for Australia with him.
They had a daughter Emily Rosanna 1831, and at least 6 others, of whom we have birth dates;  Pipers Flat, Lithgow, NSW.

Hannah is my ggg grandmother. We are in Australia.

Ray!!  thanks very much for confirming this Cudbell mariage to Wright Thompson;  seems they then got on a ship for Australia, and their first daughter was born here the same year.   Exact date you give will be a help, if I want to try and get further back.  Very kind of you.  yours, Bev

Hello. I'm an Aussie Thompson also on the Cudbell trail, although I have seen variations such as "Cudbold" ?

Now, my info is:

Hanna Cudbell (parents Mary and Samuel) married Wright Thompson in 1831. I know of four children -- Emily (1831), Thomas (1833), Ann (1835) and George (1837). George married Christine Mcdonald and had six children, the last of whom was Wright, who married my great grandmother.... and on it goes. I would love to hear of any details about the Cudbells or Thompsons back in Norfolk.

I did reply to a similar thread on here last year.  There was a family in Barford that was called Cuthbert that were present in the 1841 and 1851 census and with the Norfolk accent it could be worth checking this family out too.

It has been a while since anyone looked at the post however it has been so helpful for me in piecing together this part of my family tree given that Wright Thompson is my 3rd Great Grandfather.

I believe that they had the following children (no mention of Emily in my records but perhaps she was born in the UK prior to departure to Australia:
