Conran Street, Harpurhey

I am starting a new topic rather than add to questions I previously asked on the Angel Meadow link.  I have done a bit more research since the last questions and am now looking for the actual site of my g-grandfathather's shops on Conran Street, Harpurhey.  I know that the numbers on Conran Street were 54, 36, 51 and 62 and from family memories the main shop was on a V shape corner with Rochdale Road opposite Turkey Lane.  Some kind person sent me a photo of a shop that in 1968 was a pram shop.  I can't find any history to the pram shop L. Loofe's so wondered if anyone remembers it or what was there beforehand.

Manchester Images Collection has a photo of no. 34 Conran St, which is a Launderette shop, there is a shop on the other side of it but cannot say what the number of it is?

What was the name of the shop or owner?

Yes Mary8 it did come from there.  The name of the family was McMullen but no idea if the shops were named that.

Thanks for picture of 34, pity it wasn't a bit further around the corner!  The shops were a mixture of tailors, haberdashers and hat shops.

Out of curiosity, what era are you looking at?

From about 1915 to 1940s.  Not sure exactly when they gave the shops up.

My Gt Grandfather had a shop at No. 74 in the 1910's early 20's. Again, not sure when they moved out.

I know he was very pally with some of the other shopkeepers.

Have the names Jones or Storey cropped up in your travels?

I did find a photo of his shop, but again, it was in the 60's

My great-grandfather's shops were at 54, 36, 51 and 62 Conran Street, so not far from your great-granddad's, they must have known each other in the 1920s. What kind of shop was it?  My Mother was born above one of those shops in 1921. I'm afraid I haven't come across either of the names you mention.  We must both keep searching!!
